Diverse and alive: Landscape care-work with the Gowanus Canal

Part of LRG's annual research showcase, in 2020 entitled "A future of our own making: What does landscape justice look and feel like in the face of rapid environmental change?"

This case study of the Gowanus Canal Conservancy (GCC) will explore the potential of a model of landscape practice grounded in interconnected and mutually supportive relationships between people and place. The GCC uses landscape care-work (maintenance, advocacy, research, education, stewardship) to connect the Gowanus community and environmental justice.
