I’m associate professor in rural history at the University of Reading. My research is mainly focused on the historical experience of landscape but I’ve also worked on the idea and practice of rural community – village halls, rural community councils, counterurbanisation and the like. Before that I worked on the history of allotments, very rewarding as it brought me into contact with many allotment gardeners.
